The Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) launched a $10 coin to commemorate the 100 birth year of Lee Kuan Yew. The coin pays tribute to LKY and is minted in aluminium bronze. The coin is slightly bigger than normal $1 coin.

The whole process started in May 2023 and they will send an SMS to inform you the collection date and location (major bank in Singapore).

You will need to show the SMS when collecting
Each coin has an additional paper slot (given separately)

I collected mine from UOB and it seemed that the cashier prefer cash. My wife collected from DBS and they prefer payLah/payNow.

Frankly speaking, I am not sure why the government wants to celebrate “birth year” of LYK.

Do you celebrate birthday for a dead person?🤔🤔

Nevertheless, as the coin is official legal tender and looks easy to keep, I’ve bought my maximum allocation of 5 coin. It may be a valuable thing to give my kids in future.

The value almost doubled in Carousell already
