I finally decided to sign up for Standard Charter 2025 half marathon for 2025. Previously, before covid, i did sign up for a half marathon but I lacked the confidence to run. I had a lack of training and just feel that I would injured myself. I did run a half marathon many years ago so I suppose I can definitely complete it.
This is also the most expensive race in Singapore. It cost $117 SGD for half marathon, much higher than Garmin run, 2XU and “Lazada Run”. Hopefully I do not regret it.
As a guy, I suppose I would want to not just complete it, but run under a suitable target. I’m hoping it will be under 2hour as it seemed that many people who doesnt train can run under around 2 hour 30 min in the recent Tik Toks that I have seen for 2XU run. (Although that race is short of 1.1km). Based on my latest 5km run, Runna estimate 2.07 hour. My latest 10km similar to Runna’s estimation, so the predictor looks accurate. Runna also suggest that i can aim for 1:56 hr for my half marathon.

Runna is kind of expensive so I decided to use Garmin Coach instead. It should do a similar job, but I notice that it needs a commitment of 3 days per week. This made it look slightly tougher for a father with 2 toddlers to find time. 10km run takes 1hour and 21km run takes 2 hour.

I’ll start with 10km before changing to 21km.
Half marathon in 2025, full marathon in 2026
